AI-udvikler til validering og klinisk implementering af AI-systemer inden for radiologi

Røntgen og Skanning

The Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Health, Aarhus University, invites applications for a position as AI Developer for validation and clinical implementation of AI systems, commencing on 1 January 2027, preferably before then, if possible. The position is a fixed-term full-time appointment until 31 December 2028 which aligns with the end date of the project related to the grant agreement.

AURA is the radiology research unit at Aarhus University Hospital and is affiliated with the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University. We conduct research across a broad range of radiological topics and work closely with clinical departments on projects spanning classical statistical methods, artificial intelligence, language models, and advanced image analysis.

In recent years, we have expanded our activities within AI and are therefore seeking additional expertise for both existing and new projects. As an AI Developer in AURA, you will play a central role in validating, implementing, and further developing AI solutions for use in healthcare. You will become part of an ambitious research environment with close collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and technical specialists, and you will have the opportunity to influence both projects and your own role.

As an AI Developer at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will become part of what is likely the largest health sciences research institute in Denmark. Clinical research covers all medical specialties and is carried out in close collaboration with the university hospital and regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. We have approximately 30,000 square metres of modern research facilities for experimental surgery and medicine, animal facilities, and advanced scanners. The department has overall responsibility for the Master’s degree programmes in Medicine and Molecular Medicine. The department comprises approximately 670 academic staff members, 500 PhD students, and 160 technical and administrative staff, all working collaboratively across disciplines. As an AI Developer, you will be based at Aarhus University Hospital in the Central Denmark Region. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.

Your Job Responsibilities
As an AI Developer, your primary responsibilities will be to develop, validate, and implement AI solutions for clinical use, while supporting the research group's activities within data analysis, software development, and advanced image analysis. You will contribute to research and development activities through technical development, project work, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with researchers, clinicians, students, and external partners.

Your tasks will primarily include:
  • Validation and implementation of AI systems for clinical use.
  • Development, testing, and evaluation of new AI solutions.
  • Software development and data analysis related to research and development projects.
  • Establishment and maintenance of technical workflows and development environments.
  • Responsibility for your own technical sub-projects and development processes.
  • Providing technical and methodological support and advice to researchers and clinicians.
  • Co-supervision and academic support of Master's and PhD students.
  • Collaboration with external partners, including companies and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the establishment of new research and development projects within AI and radiology.

The position offers a high degree of independence, and we would like you to help shape the content of the role so that it matches your competencies, interests, and career goals.

You will report to Clinical Professor, Department Chair of Radiology, Ole Graumann.

Your Qualifications
You hold a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, software development, physics, engineering, or a related discipline.

We expect that you:
  • Have strong competencies in programming and software development.
  • Are familiar with Linux and command-line based work.
  • Have experience with AI development or similar technical development work.
  • Are able to work independently and drive technical projects and sub-projects.
  • Enjoy collaborating with and supporting researchers and students in their projects.

It is an advantage if you have experience with:
  • Research projects or research collaborations.
  • Healthcare data, medical image analysis, or clinical AI systems.
  • Supervision, teaching, or academic mentoring.

Your educational background is less important than your technical competencies, experience, and ability to translate technical solutions into practical applications within a clinical environment.

As a person, you possess strong collaborative skills, demonstrate initiative, and are able to drive progress in complex projects. You thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and contribute positively to a good working environment. We expect you to speak and write English fluently.

We Offer
  • A strong and ambitious research environment with close ties to clinical practice.
  • Significant influence over your own projects and responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to shape the development and implementation of AI solutions in healthcare.
